Auto Art Body Shop Supports a Greener Rutherford County

Auto Art Body Shop began converting to the PPG Envirobase paint system in September 2010 with one of the shop’s paint teams using this revolutionary new paint line. As of May 2011, Auto Art Body Shop fully converted to using the PPG’s waterborne paint system. Waterborne paints contain water as the major ingredient instead of harmful solvents and volatile organic compounds. These paints are better for the environment because they contain and emit less harmful chemicals. Waterborne basecoat paints are composed of 70% water, 10% organic solvents, and 20% pigment, metallic and pearlescent particles. In addition to being environmentally friendly, this paint line provides our customers with a durable finish and superior color matching.
Auto Art Body Shop owner, Danny Wallace was recently featured in Body Shop Business magazine for converting to this eco-friendly paint system. The PPG Envirobase paint system is just one of the many steps Auto Art Body Shop is taking to support a greener Rutherford County.

Auto Art South would like to welcome their new shop manager, Craig Schuler. Craig attended MTSU and Vale Technical School, and he has been in the auto body industry for 16 years. He is I-Car Gold Certified and has managed various shops in the Middle Tennessee area. His experience and knowledge will make a great asset to our team, and we look forward to working with him.

Auto Art Body Shop is no longer affiliated with Auto Art Shelbyville. This location has been bought by Bobby and Robbie Hampton. The new owners are conducting business as Shelbyville Collision. Auto Art Body Shop is expanding into Bedford County with a new location in Shelbyville. This location opened its doors for business on January 12, 2009. Auto Art Shelbyville will be managed by Robby Hampton, who has been in the automobile repair industry for 10 years. This new addition to our family will provide the same quality work that is the hallmark of Auto Art Body Shop. We have been providing services in the Rutherford County area for 39 years, and are excited that we will offer our expert collision repair services to the Bedford County area as well. Our new location will hold a luncheon on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in order to celebrate our Grand Opening of this addition. Auto Art South officially opened its doors for business on Thursday, November 13, 2008. This new location has a fully trained, certified staff with over thirty years experience in the auto repair industry. Just like all of Auto Art's other locations, all paint and body work comes with a written guarantee that is good for as long as you own your vehicle. Auto Art South updates estimated completion dates on a daily basis, and customers can choose to be updated on their vehicle via e-mail or telephone, whichever is more convenient to them. Auto Art is proud to announce the opening of our third location, Auto Art South conveniently located on the south side of Murfreesboro at Indian Park Drive and South Church Street (231). The brand new state of the art facility is scheduled to open mid-October 2008. The 9,500 square foot facility includes all of the latest technology, including an E-Spray 300 Series Down Draft Paint Booth. Auto Art South will be managed by co-owner Dan Warner. Dan Warner has been in the auto industry since 1979, and he is I-CAR certified. We look forward to serving your auto body needs.

Caring for your vehicle's new paint job

We recommend that you follow these simple precautions the first few month's of your new finish's life:

In The First 90 Days...

Do not wax or polish the vehicle - this will allow the finish to dry and harden completely. (do not use silicone-containing waxes or polishes.)

In The First 30 Days

Do not use a commercial car wash. Stiff brushes or sponges could mar the finish or damage the surface. Wash the vehicle by hand with cool water and a very mild car wash solution. Be sure to use a soft cloth or sponge.
Wash the vehicle in the shade - never in the sun.
Do not "dry wipe" the vehicle - always use clean water. Dry wiping could scratch the finish.
Extreme heat or cold are to be avoided. Keep the vehicle parked in the shade whenever possible.
Do not drive on gravel roads. Chipping the finish is easily done in the first days.
Do not park under trees which drop sap or near factories with heavy smoke fallout. Sap or industrial fallout mar or spot a freshly painted surface.
Trees are also likely to attract birds. Bird droppings have a high acid content and will damage a freshly painted surface. They should be washed off as soon as possible.
Do not spill gasoline, oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, or windshield solvent on the new finish. If you do...IMMEDIATELY rinse off with water. DO NOT WIPE.
Do not scrape ice or snow from the surface. Your snow scraper can act like a paint scraper if the finish is new. Brush off loose material with a soft snow brush.
